How to Blend Eye Makeup

Great Day! Get Excited! Get Excited!! Thanks for stopping by. Blended eye makeup should look seamless and not create stiff or straight lines, unless you are attempting a specific look. Makeup on the eyes will blend better when a small amount of liquid foundation is applied to the eyelids and the area under the eyebrow.

Brush on eye shadow with a loose brush rather than a foam applicator to start with a more natural look. Apply the medium-colored eye shadow from a pre-packaged eye shadow trio to the eyelid. Highlight the area under the brow with the lightest color in the trio. Add the darkest color last, on the crease of the eyelid. Blend eye makeup only after you've applied all the eye shadow shades you want to wear.

Wait to apply eyeliner and mascara until after your eye shadow is blended. Use the brush you used to apply your accent color to blend your eye makeup so that you don't get your darker accent color on the brush you use for your other two lighter eye shadow colors.

Use a blending brush for applying and blending eye makeup. You'll get a much better end result. Move the makeup brush lightly across eyelids and under the eyebrows to blend eye shadow and remove any excess makeup.

Punch Up Your Beauty This Holiday

Get Excited! Get Excited!! The holiday season is here..What can a woman do to punch up her look without taking it all off and starting over for an afterwork holiday event?
Transitioning from work to evening is actually pretty easy if you prep yourself. Apply tinted moisturizer (or foundation), mascara and gloss or lipstick before work. After work, cover any blemishes by patting in a concealer (never rub).

Then follow these steps for either the smokey eye look or the deep red look:

For the Smokey Eye
1. Apply your eye makeup: Eyeliner on both top and bottom lashes (be sure to 'smudge it,' dark eyeliner will age you), a eye shadow primer, and a shimmery shadow on the lid. Don't apply any more mascara unless your earlier application has rubbed completely off, otherwise you risk getting clumpy lashes.
2. Dab a shimmery blush to cheeks.
3. Powder your face lightly.
4. Apply a light lipstick or gloss.

For Deep Red Lips
1. Cover unsightly veins on eyelids with a matte eyeshadow in a color that's as close as your skin tone as possible.
2. Apply a very light shimmery blush on cheeks.
3. Line lips and fill in with your favorite red color.
4. Powder face.

Which look will you wear to your holiday event?
Smokey Eyes
Deep Red Lips

Janet Jackson "For Colored Girls" Hair-Makeup Look

Janet Jackson looks fierce on the set of Tyler Perry’s ‘For Colored Girls’ in Harlem.  The cast includes Tyler Perry veterans such as Janet Jackson and Kimberly Elise, along with Whoopi Goldberg, Loretta Devine, Phylicia Rashad, Thandie Newton, Dreamgirl Anika Noni Rose and Kerry Washington.  Janet looks good in any hair style! Even with this very short cut, the singer still looks amazing. Janet hair/makeup was very impressive that I created a glam video on her fabulous look.

Products Used:
Bronze Gold Mineral Eye Shadow
Chocolate Mineral Eye Shadow
Deep Red Lip Liner
Red Lipstick
Black Eye Liner
Brown Red Cheek Color

PROTIP: To contour cheek apply the contour color right under your cheek bones. One way to locate your cheek bones is to make a fish face. Wherever your cheeks are sucked in the most is where you should apply contour. Use a small circular motion to apply. This will make blending it easier. Start to apply it in front of your ears, then bring it towards the corners of your mouth and jaw line, as shown in the picture

How to Create a Gorgeous Holiday Look

Great Day! The holidays are here again, made apparent by the sparkle of lights everywhere you look and the glimmer of tinsel decking the halls. With the glitter and holiday glow, there is no reason why you can't shine brightly among the festivities. A few simple tips can help you wear an extra touch with holiday makeup.

To set the foundation use a light weight powder, try using one with a little shimmer like
Flori Roberts bronzers. If not try a loose eye shadow powder in gold and highlight your cheekbones. The gold color adds to the holiday glow.

For the eyes make it simple, try a thin black liner and extend the line to a fine tip. To make sure the line doesn't run try layering it with black shadow to set it in. Or try a shimmer liner in chocolate brown or hunter green.
Another option for the eye is to try metallic tone cream shadow. Choose a shimmery white or champagne colored eye shadow for the base of your holiday makeup. Apply the shadow evenly from the lash line to the brow ridge, working the powder into the skin thoroughly. Choose a mid-toned brownish red or bronze color to add depth to your eyes, applying the shadow just to the eye crease and slightly above. Start with a light application, blending well and adding more if necessary.

Also, for the holidays use colors as gold, bronze, olive green, grey, deep plum, copper. Then layer your lashes with volumizing mascara. Wiggle the wand at the base of your lashes back and forth then lift. Separate the lashes to prevent clumping with a dry eyelash or eyebrow comb.

Keep with the soft glowing holiday makeup look by wearing a splash of gold on your lips. Apply a fine dusting of gold eye shadow just to the center of each lip and then cover with clear lip gloss.   Now you can show off your Holiday Glamour Look!

How to Find the Best Lip Color

Great day! If You Love Makeup, Beauty  Fashion readers!  Ok, the ideal neutral lip color is like the perfect pair of jeans; it is a basic that you can dress up or down, and it will always look great on you.

Put it in neutral. The most versatile lipstick you can win is a shade that’s just a bit brighter than your natural lip color. It will even out and define your lips the way a subtle coat of mascara draws attention to your eyes. For some people, that color is a peachy brown or rosy pink; for African-American woman, it might be eggplant. Keep in mind that neutral lipstick shouldn’t be the color of concealer (a look that only works on the runway) and that a matte lipstick that is lighter than your natural lip color will wash out your face.

Try it right. Use the middle of your lower lip as a guide when looking for the right color, and try lipstick on in the daylight for the most accurate assessment. If you’ve tested more than three or four shades, take a break—your lips will be strained. You may also need to find a new color if you’ve been out in the sun a lot, since your lips might be darker.

Know yourself. As a makeup artist, I learned quickly that the color of your lips affects the way lipstick looks. If you see your friend wearing a great color, don’t assume it will be right for you. Her shade might look ashy or muddy on your lips.

Mix it up. Every season has its lipstick trend, and just because your perfect color is pinky, beige or neutral, that doesn’t mean you can’t wear deep burgundy. Apply one coat of wine, burgundy, or any other color you want to try on top. Even the craziest lipstick shade can be adjusted to suit your coloring.

5 Tips for Flawless Skin

Get Excited! If You Luv Makeup and Beauty readers! Thanks for reading my blogs. Here are 5 Tips for Flawless Skin.

Tip 1: Primer your skin
Using a primer is like wearing a slip under your dress…it smoothes everything out and hides your imperfections.

Tip 2: Know your skin type before selecting a formula
Foundation comes in all forms, and should be selected based in skin type. Drier skin types should wear a moisture-base formula. Oily or acne-prone should wear an oil-controlling formula. A natural, mineral-rich foundation is great for any skin type.

Tip 3: Choose the right tools
Applying foundation is a personal preference and each method creates a different finish. For liquid foundations, using your finger creates a sheer look, while the Foundation Brushes produces a very smooth seamless finish. For powder makeup, use the Round Buff Brush for even, all-over coverage.

Tip 4: Apply concealer over foundation
Applying concealer over foundation allows for better coverage and prevents the concealer from getting swept away. Using a full-coverage formula will instantly conceal dark circles, lines and wrinkles, while reducing puffiness and redness.

Tip 5: Set your look with powder
Powder is a great way to complete your look. Keep it very light use a fluffy Powder Brush to dust a lightweight formula.

Until next time…Feel free to subscribe to my blog by entering your email address.

Get Fresh This Fall

Great Day! This season you should focus on your best features and play them up while keeping the rest of your makeup basic, subtle and gorgeous.

Here are some tips to looking your best in the upcoming months. Follow along and find your best feature.

LIPS
If your lips are your ticket, then find a shade that speaks to you. Plums are gorgeous, pinks are lively and reds are always a show stopper. If you decide to accentuate the lips, be very minimal with the eyes. A skin-tone shadow and mascara is just enough. Move towards satin lipsticks and away from shimmery glosses. Your lips should appear moisturized but bold.

EYES
Smokey eyes are always. If your eyes are your strength, work with earthy. Copper, bronze, brown, chocolate and forest green with hints of gold work great. Try matte shades as opposed to the summer shimmers. Shimmers should only be used in the inner corners of the eye to create an illusion of a rested, open eye.

Remember, less is more! Your beauty will be sure to shine through any way you go

Make Over Your Beauty Bag This Fall

Great day!  Glamour Divas should not leave home this fall without these items. Invest in a new cosmetic bag for the fall and included these items.

Non-latex sponge can be used to correct eye makeup mistakes, blend primer and buff down blush.

Beauty Blotter Oil-Absorbing Tissues, powder-free blotting papers help control shine without adding filmy buildup.

A nice pair of false eyelashes takes you up one glamorous notch. Novices should seek out a half strip with shorter lashes of varying lengths, which are easier to apply.

A fabulous facial bronzer is an essential tool for warming up every completion.
Everyone needs two pairs of tweezers: a needle nose for meticulous shaping and hard-to-snag strays, and slanted ones for gripping several hairs at a time.

Don't get caught without a great powder compact; it's a necessity for applying makeup on the go.

Transitioning Your Beauty From Summer to Fall

Great Day! Thanks for stopping by. One day the sun is shining, your hair is glossy and your complexion is dewy. The next time you check the leaves are changing and so is your reflection. You wonder: Where did this dry, dull skin come from? Why does my hair look so crunchy? Relax – transitioning your beauty regimen from summer to fall is easy, the only thing you’ll miss about the warm weather will be those bejeweled sandals.

Your skin looks dull and sallow, even with makeup. TREATMENT it’s not your imagination. In the fall, there’s less light which can make even healthy, supple skin appear pastry. To restore your natural glow, switch your summer foundation to a thicker, creamier one with light-reflecting pigments. “You need a cover that will the skin remain hydrated and appear more luminous. Smooth a highlighter across the cheekbones, along the temples and over the eyelids.

HOW TO APPLY STICK FOUNDATION

Great Day! Readers…Today I’m going to share information on how to apply Stick Foundation. Which works well for normal to dry skin, it provides more coverage, beautiful finish and it is quick to apply. Let’s get started! Stick foundations are cream-to-powder foundations that come in a stick form. The best advantage of the stick
foundation is that it can be also used as a concealer when applied over to problem areas and imperfections. Stick foundations provide full coverage and a matte finish; hide blemishes, scars, discolorations and brown spots. Most of these foundations contain sunscreens and moisturizing ingredients. Stick Foundation is not recommended for oily skin.

1 Step Cleanse and tone your face

Always apply foundation to a cleansed and toned skin. Use a mild cleanser appropriate for your skin and cleanse your face thoroughly to remove all the impurities and oils that have accumulated during the night. Tone your skin with a toner that suits your skin.

2 Step Moisturize your skin
Always moisturize your skin before applying the foundation even if your skin is oily. The first step when applying makeup is the application of appropriate moisturizer according to your skin type. It will improve your skin quality and act as a protective layer to help trap the moisture in the skin and stop it from evaporation.

3 Step Apply the stick foundation
Roll up the tube and make sure the tip appears slightly above the container level. You can stroke the top of the stick with your fingers or apply the stick directly to your face. Roll the stick foundation over your face, foreheads, cheeks, nose and chin and blend carefully. Pay attention to areas where foundation tends to collect. Don’t forget to apply foundation to the neck, especially if you are using darker shade of foundation otherwise your face will look like a mask and unnatural. Make sure everything blends together and looks the same. Blend out to your hair and jaw line until the foundation vanishes.

Makeup Mistakes to Avoid

Your makeup should never enter the room before you do. Here are five makeup mistakes to keep in mind, before you leave home.

Dark Lip Liner and Light Lipstick: The trend now is to wear lip liner shade close to your natural lip color. If you do use dark liner like a red, berry or brown shade, fill in your mouth completely, and then top with clear gloss.

Draw in Eyebrows: If your brows are super-thin, make short, feathery strokes with a pencil, them top brows with powder.

Clump Mascara: Before applying wipe the mascara wand against the opening of the tube to get rid of excess mascara. Wiggle the ward from side to side, from the base of your lashes to the tip. Comb lashes before they dry to separate them.

Caky Foundation over Bad Skin: Suffocating your skin with a heavy cover up will draw attention to the problem. For fines lines: Add a little moisturizer with your foundation. For blemishes: Mineral makeup can give great coverage for acne.

Foundation Line on the Jaw: To avoid foundation mask, select the right shade. Ask a salesperson at the makeup counter to pick out several shades and test a few on your cheek.

HOW TO TWEEZE BROWS

Tweezerman Stainless Steel Slant Tweezer, Midnight Sky
Well-groomed eyebrows are a must. But before you reach for the tweezers determine where to start. By locating three key pivotal points of reference, you will know where and what to tweeze. Simply follow these steps and you will have perfect brows.

POINT A. Hold a pencil or the handle of a brush vertically against the side of your nose, noticing where it meets the brow. That is where brow should begins.

POINT B. Hold the pencil against your nostril and move it diagonally across the outer half of the iris of your eye. Notice where the pencil meets the brow: This is the best place for the peak of your arch. If you tweeze from Point A to B, tapering the line slightly thinner toward the peak, you will create the ideal shape for your brow.

POINT C. Again, place the pencil against your nostril, but this time, extend it diagonally to the outer corner of your eye. Where it meets the brow is the best place for your brow to end. If you tweeze from Point B to Point C, tapering the line even thinner, you will create the best brow shape for your faces.

5 Best Makeup Look for the Summer

Kerry Washington

Looks best on: Medium or dark skin
Why we like it: Summer is a great time to experiment with color, and choosing a shade like purple, makes color wearable for those of us who are over 20.

Quick tip: To keep a bright shadow color in place, prime your lids by dusting them with a loose transparent powder before applying a purple shadow.

Emmanuelle Chriqui

Looks best on: Medium skin
Why we like it: Nothing says summer more than a bronzed all-over glow, shimmering eyes, and glossy lips.

Quick tip: To create Chriqui's highlighted glow, finish your bronzed makeup by blending a pearly cream like on the tops of your cheekbones, directly under your brow bones, and along bridge of your nose.

Queen Latifah

Looks best on: Dark skin
Why we like it: Silvery hues are a huge trend this summer and look epic (and not disco ball-like at all) when worn on dark, glowing skin. Silver shades are definitely worth a try.

Quick tip: To make a silver eyeshadow stand out, and to stay on trend, dab a bit of the shimmery hue on the lower inner-corners of your eyes. This will make your eyes look bigger as well -- bonus!

Heidi Klum

Looks best on: Medium skin
Why we like it:A slightly pink glow and eyelashes for miles will let your natural beauty shine through.

Quick tip: Klum's flawless complexion is what really makes this natural makeup look so beautiful. To get her even skin tone, start by exfoliating weekly to slough off dull-looking skin. Then use a tinted moisturizer over your entire face to even out your tone and protect your skin. Hide remaining visible under eye circles or blemishes with concealer. Finally, set your face with powder. If you get shiny throughout the day, keep oil-absorbing sheets handy and touch up as needed.

Camilla Belle

Looks best on: Medium, tan skin
Why we like it: This bright coral pink lipstick hue is fun and sexy -- everything summer should be.

Quick tip: Bronzed skin looks best in varieties of pinky-coral shades like Belle's, so if you have her complexion try a lip color. But if you have light or pale skin, the most flattering shade of coral for you will be a touch more  orangey-red lip color.

Skin Type vs Foundation Type

Great Day! Everyone has a certain skin type with its very own characteristics. Once you know yours, it makes it easier for you to know which foundations are right for your skin type. See how simple it is to find your perfect match?

DRY SKIN TYPE-usually mature skin; lacks emollients; less elastic; rarely breaks out; feels tight after cleansing; usally small pores.
*Needs-moisturizing foundations; formula containing emollients and antioxidants.

NORMAL SKIN TYPE -few to no breakouts; neither too oily nor too dry; medium pores; smooth and even texture; healthy color.
*Needs- pH-balanced products.

OILY SKIN TYPE-prone to blackheads; large pores; gets shiny fast; breaks out often; wrinkles less; usually highly elastic.
*Needs- oil-free products; non-comedogenic; products enriched with oil absorbers.

SENSITIVE SKIN TYPE-burns very easily; blotchy and dry patches; more susceptible to rosacea; sensitive to many products; flushes easily; thin, delicate.
* Needs-hypoallergenic; fragrance-free moisturizing formulas; formulas without chemical sunscreens.

Find the Perfect Makeup Artist for Your Wedding Day

Tis' the season to get married, and many brides are gearing up for their perfect day. You have the dress, the caterer, the flowers and the perfect man, but do you have your BBF (bride's best friend)? Yes, finding the makeup artist is always a difficult task because you want to look absolutely perfect on your special day. Rightly so! Finding the right makeup artist is trial and error, and it may take some time to find someone who gets your vision. But the effort is so worth it. Don't risk it by waiting until the last minute either. I'm sure you have a friend who can "do makeup," but bridal makeup is very different from everyday makeup and should be done to your liking. You should just be able to sit back, relax and enjoy your moment.

Here are some tips on finding your BBF:

1. Go through some magazines and collect at least three looks you may want to try for your wedding. Make sure it's a classic look that you will admire when you look back in 30 years -- nothing trendy and nothing over the top. You want to look like you but better.

2. Take a picture of your dress and your bridesmaids' dresses so you have a canvas to work from. Your dress may have a colored sash or beading that's important for the makeup artist to see.

3. At the trial, be vocal and tell the makeup artist what you like and don't like. She is there to make you feel like the stunning bride you will be. Make sure she tells you what products she's using. Should you decide to book her, make sure it's at least two hours before your big "I do" moment. You don't want to feel rushed and must allow time for other important things like getting into your dress!

This is your big day and you want to look your best. Take your time and find someone who wants the same for you! Feel free to visit my online makeup portfolio to check out my bridal work!
Congratulations!

When to Toss Your Beauty Products

Hello “If You Love Makeup & Beauty” readers. Here are a few makeup tips on when to toss out your makeup.

MASCARA: Replace every two to three months of if its gets dry. Makeup Tip: Don’t pump mascara. That forces air in, drying it out faster.
LIP COLOR: Lip products in a tube last up to a year because they’re not exposed to the germs on our hands, “says NYC dermatologist David Colbert, Potted gloss will last as long as nine months.

LIQUID MAKEUP: Eye primers, liquid foundations and glosses are for six to nine months.

DRY MAKEUP: Throw away eye shadows, pressed powers, blush and pencils after a year.

How to Keep Eye Makeup Fresh During the Summer

Great Day! Thanks for stopping by. As the warm weather begin to roll in here’s a few more tips to keep your summer look fresh. Switch to products that can handle the heat. Look for long-wearing or waterproof mascara, choose eye pencils over liquid liners, and switch to shadows that harden to a cream once applied.

Go light. Line the upper lash line, or settle for a sweep of a light shadow. Shadow from lash line to brow is more likely to cake or crease in the heat, and darker colors will be more apparent if they bleed

Skip eyeliner and mascara on the lower lashes. It's likely to streak in the sweaty under-eye area.

Set eye makeup with a light dusting of loose powder. This will help absorb any moisture that may cause eye makeup to melt.

Use a non-powdered blotting paper to remove any under-eye perspiration when you do notice streaking. Wipe away any eye makeup with a clean cotton swab.

The Best Way to Apply Mascara

What’s the best way to apply mascara?
Of all the makeup you use, mascara is the one thing you can’t do without. Lashes naturally enhance the face, so even when you’re not wearing any other makeup, brush on some mascara to play them up. Black mascara in particular looks gorgeous on all women, regardless of hair or eye color. It immediately brings the focus to the eyes. For the fullest, lushest lashes, first blot the applicator on dry tissue that’s not too cottony, to avoid picking up tissue residue. Then, starting at the base of the lash, applicator a first coat, wiggling the applicator from side to side for thickness, and pulling it outward for length. Allow the first coat of mascara to dry, and finish the rest of your face. Then reapply mascara as before. Finally, curl and comb your lashes and you’re out the door.
