Trend Alert: Pixie Cuts Are In

Ultra-short pixie cuts and boy crops are all the rage right now. "Short styles are popular because they're a great way to keep your beauty routine low maintenance. "Short hair that frames the face is sexy, young and chic, plus it's easy to style."

Wondering if you have what it takes to pull off this super-cute look. It's all in your face shape. Here are a few recommendations:

If your face is long or oval, an angular bob cropped close to the neck is best. Be sure the hair follows the jaw line in front for the most flattering look. Women with oval faces should avoid pixies that add layers to the top of the hair, as the excess volume will only elongate the face further.

For square faces, think short and spiky. "A pixie cut is great for women with square faces because it brings out the eyes and cheekbones, making the face look softer and more feminine." Avoid a style that is chin-length because this will only accentuate the harshness of the jaw line.

If your face is round or heart shaped, you'll want a look that is slimming. Go for longer layers and wispy bangs that are brushed off to the side. "Long layers around the face are very slimming and highlight the area around the eyes rather than the cheeks where round faces tend to be a bit fuller. Also, flipping the ends out vs. under is more slimming and creates that chopped, edgy appearance.

If you love that short and sweet look but don’t want to cut your hair try a pixie weave cap.

Hooded Eyes vs Bedroom Eyes Why

Get Excited! Get Excited! Hooded eyes are sometimes called "bedroom eyes" because the lids tend to look partly closed. Applied correctly, eye color can help hooded eyes appear more open by minimizing the eyelid. Your goal is to make the fleshy lid area "push away" or recede, and help your eyes become more prominent than the eyelids.

*Never use a dark eyeshadow over the entire lid, because it makes it appear heavier and will close in your eyes.

*Don't be tempted to highlight the browbone too much because doing so can accentuate the hooded appearance.

TIP:
The eyebrow shape is very important, because attention can be diverted from the hooded eyelid with a beautifully shaped eyebrow.

Do It Yourself Quick Weave

Get Excited! Get Excited! Traditional weaves can take hours to apply depending on the specific technique of choice. Quick weaves on the other hand are easy to apply and do not require any professional consultation. If you are interested in upgrading your current hairstyle's length, color or fullness, then a quick weave is for you. Quick weaves give women versatility and options in how they want to wear their hair without the permanent commitment to any harsh chemicals.

Here’s instruction on how to do it yourself quick weave:

First wash and condition your hair. Soak your hair with setting lotion put your hair in a ponytail in the back and put it in a bun. Or style your hair with the setting lotion so it can be as flat as possible.

Start from the back. Take weave and measure track from ear to ear in the back of your head. Cut track and glue. The front of your hair does same from ear to ear. This will give you your start.

Follow the circle patter with the weave and glue. Cut smaller pieces to place in right spot. Once you become familiar with this technique you can follow your head with the whole track applying glue.

Once you get to the top of the circle you will need to make a closure piece some weave closure pieces are included but some not. Take 2 inch piece of track apply glue. Roll hair up with glue and let dry. Hold track upside down and spread weave apart glue.

Wedding Day Makeup

Get Excited! Get Excited! A professional makeup artist is valuable for wedding day makeup, but that is not always possible. Here's a few things you should pay extra attention to when applying wedding day makeup:

Apply the makeup beyond the chin. Put foundation and powder on your chest, if it is visible, and on your neck. You can even dust your shoulders. Beauty does not stop at the face.

Set the makeup with translucent powder. Use primer on your face and skin to make sure the makeup lasts. Always do a trial run of your makeup before the wedding, and for future reference, take pictures when you think your face is perfect.

How to Build Beauty With the Right Foundation

Get Excited! Get Excited! Thanks for stopping by. A great foundation is the perfect start to a flawless finish. But with so many formulas and shades to choose from, selecting the right one to build on can sometimes be confusing. Here are a few foundation facts that can help you find your perfect match.

Mineral Powder Foundation combines the feel of a powder with the coverage of a foundation. It is a weightless, skin-perfecting powder that provides coverage and blends with the sweep of a brush. For a flawless look, a specially designed mineral foundation brush should be used when applying this type of foundation.

Medium-Coverage Liquid Foundation is generally best for normal to oily skin. It provides even coverage and helps control excess oil.

Full-Coverage Liquid Foundation is generally best for normal to dry skin. It helps hydrate skin while providing coverage.

Creme-To-Powder Foundation is a two-in-one product that glides on like a cream to hide imperfections. It works well with all skin types and dries to a soft, powdery matte finish.

Tinted Moisturizer can be a fabulous option for on-the-go sheer color coverage. It’s perfect for an active lifestyle and has the added bonus of sunscreen and moisturization.

Pro Tip: When trying a new shade, it is best to test in natural light. Also be sure to allow a few minutes for the foundation to adapt to your skin before making a decision on the color.

It's All About the Makeup Brushes

Great Day! When it comes to applying makeup like a professional, using the right tools can make all the difference. High-quality brushes can help you achieve a smooth, even look. Here are a few makeup artist tips and techniques you can use every day to get a polished look. It’s all a matter of using the right brush to get beautiful results.

A Powder Brush is a full, fluffy brush designed to evenly distribute powder to the face. Sweep brush across pressed powder or dip into loose powder; tap gently to remove excess and apply to the face from forehead to chin using long, light strokes.

A Cheek Brush is used to accentuate bone structure or add a healthy blush to cheeks. Use the tip
of this soft, angled brush to apply color to the apples of the cheeks and stroke upward along cheekbones, stopping just below the temples, then blend. This brush is also a great tool to use for applying bronzer. Apply across the bridge of your nose, temples, cheekbones and shoulders for a gorgeous, healthy looking glow.

An Eye Definer Brush has bristles that are tapered and rounded at the end to shape and define eyes and blend color evenly. Sweep color softly across the eyelid and then lightly above the crease for a natural, yet polished look.

An Eye Crease Brush has long, thin, pointed bristles and is used with midtone and darker shades of eye color to add depth to eyes. Begin by placing the brush at the outer corner of the eye and then sweep inward following the natural crease. This brush can also be used to create a smoky eye look. Using the brush tip, sweep softly along lower lashes from the outer corner inward.

An Eyeliner Brush is used to line eyes and enhance sparse brows with eye color. This flat, angl
ed, short-bristle brush makes it easy to apply a thin line of color along top and bottom lashes. It's also a great tool to use for blending your eyebrow pencil.

Use an Eyebrow Brush to brush brows in the opposite direction from which they grow to remo
ve any excess foundation. Gently brush back, following their natural shape and direction, as a finishing touch to your makeup application.
