Maintain Hair While Wearing Wigs

Hey Everybody!  Get Excited!  I’m back with another informational beauty blog.  Let’s talk beauty…

Did you know that failure to properly maintain the health of your own hair while wearing a wig could actually lead to hair loss or damages?

Wearing a wig doesn't mean neglecting your real hair, which needs as much care as it did before you purchased your wig.  Your hair needs frequent cleaning and care, especially in the summertime. Although your hair is covered, bacteria can gather beneath the wig.

Shampoo and condition your hair regularly. Massage your scalp daily.  Most of all moisturizes hair to prevent damages and keep it braided or wrapped up neatly this will help keep your hair healthy.

Tip:  Give yourself a good scalp massage in the evening and in the morning, working on the skin at the top of the head to the nape of the neck.

Trend Alert: Pixie Cuts Are In

Ultra-short pixie cuts and boy crops are all the rage right now. "Short styles are popular because they're a great way to keep your beauty routine low maintenance. "Short hair that frames the face is sexy, young and chic, plus it's easy to style."

Wondering if you have what it takes to pull off this super-cute look. It's all in your face shape. Here are a few recommendations:

If your face is long or oval, an angular bob cropped close to the neck is best. Be sure the hair follows the jaw line in front for the most flattering look. Women with oval faces should avoid pixies that add layers to the top of the hair, as the excess volume will only elongate the face further.

For square faces, think short and spiky. "A pixie cut is great for women with square faces because it brings out the eyes and cheekbones, making the face look softer and more feminine." Avoid a style that is chin-length because this will only accentuate the harshness of the jaw line.

If your face is round or heart shaped, you'll want a look that is slimming. Go for longer layers and wispy bangs that are brushed off to the side. "Long layers around the face are very slimming and highlight the area around the eyes rather than the cheeks where round faces tend to be a bit fuller. Also, flipping the ends out vs. under is more slimming and creates that chopped, edgy appearance.

If you love that short and sweet look but don’t want to cut your hair try a pixie weave cap.

Do It Yourself Quick Weave

Get Excited! Get Excited! Traditional weaves can take hours to apply depending on the specific technique of choice. Quick weaves on the other hand are easy to apply and do not require any professional consultation. If you are interested in upgrading your current hairstyle's length, color or fullness, then a quick weave is for you. Quick weaves give women versatility and options in how they want to wear their hair without the permanent commitment to any harsh chemicals.

Here’s instruction on how to do it yourself quick weave:

First wash and condition your hair. Soak your hair with setting lotion put your hair in a ponytail in the back and put it in a bun. Or style your hair with the setting lotion so it can be as flat as possible.

Start from the back. Take weave and measure track from ear to ear in the back of your head. Cut track and glue. The front of your hair does same from ear to ear. This will give you your start.

Follow the circle patter with the weave and glue. Cut smaller pieces to place in right spot. Once you become familiar with this technique you can follow your head with the whole track applying glue.

Once you get to the top of the circle you will need to make a closure piece some weave closure pieces are included but some not. Take 2 inch piece of track apply glue. Roll hair up with glue and let dry. Hold track upside down and spread weave apart glue.

Get Excited! Get Excited! Introducing Jill Scott. For her true fans, you say that name and visions of beauty dance in your head. Jill has become as known and loved for her radiant smile and her crowning glory, as she is for her music.

Lately her hair has been garnering much attention -- Recently her stylist Felicia Leatherwood did a lengthy interview over on Afrobella.com where she explained how to achieve the kind of intricate styles seen of late on Jilly from Philly.

It’s a combination of hairstyles — cornrows and two strand twists. If you’re good at cornrows, get one side perfect. Then the other side, you double strand twist with a little bit of Miss Jessie’s, sit under the dryer and let it dry, then untwist a little and you’re good to go!”

Felicia used Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding or Butter crème on Jill, it's an amazing product.

Crème Rinses vs Finishing Rinses Hair

Great day! Thanks for stopping by, hope all is well. I’ve created a new social networking site “If You Luv Makeup & Beauty” www.makeupbeautyandyou.ning.com which is a spin off from this blog. Get Excited! I was reading some of the beauty advice that was posted on the network and was very impressed with the HYPE Hair group that one of the members (Sensational WiGg’s) birthed.

Her knowledge on hair care products has brought a new twist to the site. Check out her inside on Crème Rinses and Finishing Rinses…Sensational WiGg’s recommend the below conditioners to maintain healthily hair, detanglement and to smooth hair cuticle.

Instant Conditioners
Smooth hair cuticles and detangle but protect the hair shaft with thin coating of hydrolyzed protein.

Deep Conditioner and Protein Conditioner
Deep conditioner give you more intense conditioning treatment because they seal moisture and coat hair shaft with proteins left on hair for 20 to 30 minutes with or without heat then rinse out.

Reconstructing Conditioners
this contains complex proteins or nucleic acids that temporarily bond to protein structure in the hair. Note: you should be careful when using the syrupy formulas because they can dry into a stiff helmet on your hair and must be rinsed out or you can have hair loss.

Hair Repair Conditioners
It have thin watery consistency and are leave in conditioners they usually used several consecutive shampoos and then your hair shaft remains "repair". Many contain formaldehyde.

Try this Natural Remedies for hair breakage:
THE EGG YOLK AND OLIVE OIL TREATMENT In a small bowl: (1) Egg yolk and 2 tbsp of Olive Oil wet hair and apply treatment concentrationon the ends
