How to Find the Best Lip Color

Get Excited!  Get Excited!  Let's talk about lip color...  Did you know the ideal neutral lip color is like the perfect pair of jeans?  It is a basic that you can dress up or down, and it will always look great on you.

Put it in neutral. The most versatile lipstick you can win is a shade that’s just a bit brighter than your natural lip color. It will even out and define your lips the way a subtle coat of mascara draws attention to your eyes. For some people, that color is a peachy brown or rosy pink; for African-American woman, it might be eggplant. Keep in mind that neutral lipstick shouldn’t be the color of concealer (a look that only works on the runway) and that a matte lipstick that is lighter than your natural lip color will wash out your face.

Try it right. Use the middle of your lower lip as a guide when looking for the right color, and try lipstick on in the daylight for the most accurate assessment. If you’ve tested more than three or four shades, take a break—your lips will be strained. You may also need to find a new color if you’ve been out in the sun a lot, since your lips might be darker.

Know yourself. As a makeup artist, I learned quickly that the color of your lips affects the way lipstick looks. If you see your friend wearing a great color, don’t assume it will be right for you. Her shade might look ashy or muddy on your lips.

Mix it up. Every season has its lipstick trend, and just because your perfect color is pinky, beige or neutral, that doesn’t mean you can’t wear deep burgundy. Apply one coat of wine, burgundy, or any other color you want to try on top. Even the craziest lipstick shade can be adjusted to suit your coloring.

Solve Your Winter Skin Problems

Great Day! When the weather turns from sunny and mild to cold and blustery, our skin often turns too -- from supple and hydrated to cracked, flaky and ashy. In the winter we usually need to switch from lighter moisturizers to more intensely hydrating ones, right? Here is how to winterize your skin.

Pamper yourself by moisturizing the skin. Soak in a warm bath for 5 minutes, and then add a few drops of jojoba or olive oil to the water. The oil will help to seal moisture in, which can prevent and protect against dry skin. Also, adding moisture-infused products to our skin will help hydrate it. Apply cream or body lotion to damp skin once you have had a bath or shower. This can help to prevent dry skin.

Use a humidifier in the house to keep humidity in the air. A humidifier is one of the best ways to help winterize your skin.

Exfoliate your skin several times a week to remove dead skin cells. A baby brush or clarisonic brush work well to exfoliate skin.

Always wear sunscreen when you are outdoors. Sunlight even when it is dim can create skin problems.

Try Flori Roberts Shea Nut Body Butter

Perfect Nails With Staying Power

Great Day! Thanks for stopping by. To keep perfect nails try these tips for a foolproof manicure with real staying power:

Before applying polish, wipe natural nails with a polish remove to eliminate oils that can prevent polish from adhering.

Use a base coat or strengthener before using a nail color.

Apply a strip of color first down the middle, then on each side of the nail for an easy, flawless manicure.

COMFY, COZY…MAKEUP?!

Great Day! The best new winter stuff is soft, soothing and natural-looking—sort of like a cashmere sweater for your face. The how-to:

1. SKIP MATES.

They tend to be drying—not what your lips need right now. “Creamy
lipsticks feel better during winter.” A lot of new formulas are made with moisturizing oils.” For staying power, blot, and then reapply.

2. LOOSEN UP.
A dusting of silky loose powder stops shine but won’t look as heavy as frozen foundation can. For a light finish, apply with a Kabuki brush-the gentle, dome shaped bristles blend well for more coverage use a velvety puff. To keep powder from flying everywhere, don’t pat. Sprinkle some onto the puff, and then roll over your face.

3. USE YOUR FINGERS.
Thick, cream products like concealer and heavy-duty tinted lip balm glide on easier if you warm them between our fingers. “Body heat helps them melt right into your skin.

The Skin You're In

Great Day! Thanks for stopping by. The first step to great skin is TLC. To break it all down to help you achieve your best skin ever here are a few ideas:

Dry Skin
The surface, dry skin face tends to be one of the most manageable skin types. However, this type of skin is very prone to wrinkles at an early age.

Exfoliate. Flaky skin that lies on the top of dry skin blocks the beneficial ingredients of your products from reaching the cells where the real work begins. Lactic acid is good for dry skin, it’s a gentle alpha hydroxyl acid.

Oily Skin
Generally have more hyperactive sebaceous glands on the face. If you need blotting papers two hours after washing, you’re oily.

A skin care routine with drying agents doesn’t stop the oiliness-it can strip the skin not only of its oil but of its normal, resulting in more oil production. An oily skin care regimen must contain a balance of sebum-fighting ingredients that don’t compromise the natural moisture balance.

Combination Skin
Many people fight oil and clogged pores on the T-zone area-nose, forehead and chin-and dryness on the cheek. Oatmeal, soy and green tea is good for combination skin. Also, dimethicone is a non-pore-clogging emollient great for combination skin as well.

Use lightweight serums and follow with an oil-free moisturizer with sunscreen.

Hairstyles That Never Go Out of Style

Great Day! Certain looks are time less classics-but to remain fashionable. Here are some styles that can be rock now...

WAVES

PONYTAIL

PIXIE

CURLS

STRAIGHT

THE BOB

UPDO

FLIP

AFRO

The Bob
To make it modern Keep locks longer, almost to the shoulders, so they're choppy in the back and even and angled in the front.

Ponytail
To make it modern Ditch the Pebbles Flintstone height. "These days ponytials are low and streamlined.

Waves
To make it modern Trade in our beach spray for a shine pomade. "The effect now is glossy, soft, and a bit more refined than the messy waves.

Flip
To make it modern Instead of the ends flying out like Mary Tyler Moore's, they should barely hint at an upturn." Adding in layers and an undefined part.

Afro
To make it modern Live large! Big Afros are strong and sexy. The shape is somewhat abstract with unseen edges and it's pulled apart a little bit.

Pixie
To make it modern Mess it up a bit. With spiky asymmetrical pieces on top, the new pixie is more forgiving than the flat.

Curly
To make it modern "Keep curls loose and touchable-not like the crunchy look of the 80's.

Keys to Healthy Natural Hair Style

Natural Style

Keys to Healthy Natural Style

Healthy hair is the foundation for any great natural style. One of the most important means to that end is maintaining clean hair. There is a correct way and an incorrect way to shampoo the hair. When hair is wet it is in its weakest state. Rough handling can damage the hair. Never ever brush wet hair.

Make sure to shampoo your hair under a flow of water (in the shower or under a skin faucet).

Apply shampoo and work it into lather by gently massaging your scalp (the lather helps lift up the dirt).

Try not to force your fingernails into our scalp or get your nails caught up in your hair. This can cause tangles and unnecessary breakage.

Do not rub the hair together like you would a piece of hand-washed laundry; instead gently work the shampoo through to the ends. This avoids disrupting the cuticles too much.

Rinse the shampoo out thoroughly, allowing the water to flow throughout the hair.

Be sure not to rub the hair with your towels too aggressively. This can be abrasive and damaging. Try squeezing the excess water out, and then wrap the towels around your head for five minutes or so to absorb the excess water.

How to Choose the Right Eye Makeup

Great Day! Hope all is well. I know at times it can be very difficult to find the right eye shadow shades for your eye color. With so many colors to choose from, it can be very difficult. You don't want your eyes to look scary or wear the wrong colors. Especially wearing a dark coat of black or brown eye liner. Here you will find out which eye shadow shades will work best for your eye color.

Blue Eyes: Brown and rose shades. Warm shades contrast the coolness, making them pop out.

Brown Eyes: Green and gold shades. These two shades will pick up the colored flecks found in brown eyes. Bet you never knew that huh! Choose a slightly shimmery texture to make them pop out even more.

Green Eyes: Lavender and mocha shades. Purple shades contrast the color, making them look dramatic. Try softer shades of mocha.

Hazel Eyes: Deep green and pale yellow shades. Choose a shade that matches different flecks in your eyes.
