Transitioning Your Beauty From Summer to Fall

Great Day! Thanks for stopping by. One day the sun is shining, your hair is glossy and your complexion is dewy. The next time you check the leaves are changing and so is your reflection. You wonder: Where did this dry, dull skin come from? Why does my hair look so crunchy? Relax – transitioning your beauty regimen from summer to fall is easy, the only thing you’ll miss about the warm weather will be those bejeweled sandals.

Your skin looks dull and sallow, even with makeup. TREATMENT it’s not your imagination. In the fall, there’s less light which can make even healthy, supple skin appear pastry. To restore your natural glow, switch your summer foundation to a thicker, creamier one with light-reflecting pigments. “You need a cover that will the skin remain hydrated and appear more luminous. Smooth a highlighter across the cheekbones, along the temples and over the eyelids.

5 Best Makeup Look for the Summer

Kerry Washington

Looks best on: Medium or dark skin
Why we like it: Summer is a great time to experiment with color, and choosing a shade like purple, makes color wearable for those of us who are over 20.

Quick tip: To keep a bright shadow color in place, prime your lids by dusting them with a loose transparent powder before applying a purple shadow.

Emmanuelle Chriqui

Looks best on: Medium skin
Why we like it: Nothing says summer more than a bronzed all-over glow, shimmering eyes, and glossy lips.

Quick tip: To create Chriqui's highlighted glow, finish your bronzed makeup by blending a pearly cream like on the tops of your cheekbones, directly under your brow bones, and along bridge of your nose.

Queen Latifah

Looks best on: Dark skin
Why we like it: Silvery hues are a huge trend this summer and look epic (and not disco ball-like at all) when worn on dark, glowing skin. Silver shades are definitely worth a try.

Quick tip: To make a silver eyeshadow stand out, and to stay on trend, dab a bit of the shimmery hue on the lower inner-corners of your eyes. This will make your eyes look bigger as well -- bonus!

Heidi Klum

Looks best on: Medium skin
Why we like it:A slightly pink glow and eyelashes for miles will let your natural beauty shine through.

Quick tip: Klum's flawless complexion is what really makes this natural makeup look so beautiful. To get her even skin tone, start by exfoliating weekly to slough off dull-looking skin. Then use a tinted moisturizer over your entire face to even out your tone and protect your skin. Hide remaining visible under eye circles or blemishes with concealer. Finally, set your face with powder. If you get shiny throughout the day, keep oil-absorbing sheets handy and touch up as needed.

Camilla Belle

Looks best on: Medium, tan skin
Why we like it: This bright coral pink lipstick hue is fun and sexy -- everything summer should be.

Quick tip: Bronzed skin looks best in varieties of pinky-coral shades like Belle's, so if you have her complexion try a lip color. But if you have light or pale skin, the most flattering shade of coral for you will be a touch more  orangey-red lip color.

How to Keep Eye Makeup Fresh During the Summer

Great Day! Thanks for stopping by. As the warm weather begin to roll in here’s a few more tips to keep your summer look fresh. Switch to products that can handle the heat. Look for long-wearing or waterproof mascara, choose eye pencils over liquid liners, and switch to shadows that harden to a cream once applied.

Go light. Line the upper lash line, or settle for a sweep of a light shadow. Shadow from lash line to brow is more likely to cake or crease in the heat, and darker colors will be more apparent if they bleed

Skip eyeliner and mascara on the lower lashes. It's likely to streak in the sweaty under-eye area.

Set eye makeup with a light dusting of loose powder. This will help absorb any moisture that may cause eye makeup to melt.

Use a non-powdered blotting paper to remove any under-eye perspiration when you do notice streaking. Wipe away any eye makeup with a clean cotton swab.

Summer Beauty Pick
Flori Roberts Oil Blotting Translucent Powder - Oil inhibiting formula that minimizes shine and creates a natural, matte finish. Convenient for touch ups…

How to Wear Beach Makeup

Great Day! Are you spending your summer at the beach of by the pool? Per New York City makeup artist Gucci Westman, a full face of makeup just looks wrong at the beach or by the pool. Any products you put on should be light and sheer-you want to look like a summer version of yourself.

Protect you skin. Before you apply any makeup, slather on a generous coat of sunscreen. Give it at least 20 minutes to soak in-it needs to dry for full
effectiveness and so that anything you put on top won’t smear.

Forget flawless. In humid weather, anything that is creamy or greasy-like foundation or concealer is going to smudge almost instantly. If you absolutely can’t imagine going without coverage, try mixing a bit of foundation into your sunscreen and apply it that way. Also, use a
translucent powder to combat shine. If you need to cover a blemish, use a stiff concealer brush or a Q-tip to dab a little pressed powder onto the area.
