How to Apply Stick Foundations

Get Excited! Get SUPER Excited!  Let's talk about stick foundation....Did you know stick foundation works well for normal to dry skin?

Let’s get started! Stick foundations are cream base that come in a stick form. The best
advantage of the stick
foundation is that it can be used as a concealer when applied over problem areas and imperfections. Stick foundations provide full coverage, hide blemishes, scars, discolorations and brown spots. Most of these foundations contain sunscreens and moisturizing ingredients. Stick Foundation is not recommended for oily skin.

1 Step Cleanse and tone your face

Always apply foundation to a cleansed and toned skin. Use a mild cleanser appropriate for your skin and cleanse thoroughly to remove all the impurities and oils that have accumulated during the night. Tone your skin with a toner that suits your skin.

2 Step Moisturize your skin
Always moisturize your skin before applying the foundation even if your skin is oily. The first step when applying makeup is the application of appropriate moisturizer according to your skin type. It will improve your skin quality and act as a protective layer to help trap the moisture in the skin and stop it from evaporation.

3 Step Apply the stick foundation
Roll up the tube and make sure the tip appears slightly above the container level. You can stroke the top of the stick with your fingers or apply the stick directly to your face. Roll the stick foundation over your face, foreheads, cheeks, nose and chin and blend carefully. Pay attention to areas where foundation tends to collect. Don’t forget to apply foundation to the neck, especially if you are using darker shade of foundation otherwise your face will look like a mask and unnatural. Make sure everything blends together and looks the same. Blend out to your hair and jaw line until the foundation vanishes.

3 Ways To Keep Makeup On All Day

Hey Everybody!   I'm back Get EXCITED!  Did you know exfoliating is the key to prepping your skin for makeup application?  The smoother the surface, the more even it can be applied and last longer .  Let's talk about 3 ways to keep makeup on all day...

  • Moisturize - For oily skin, buy an oil free or gel moisturizer, and for dry skin buy a more nourishing one. Make sure to get a moisturizer with at least SPF 15 in it to protect you skin from the sun, or a separate SPF 45 if you live in a sunny place. If you are older, you can use a moisturizer with anti-wrinkle properties.
  • Prime your face using a good primer is the one way to lasting makeup all day.
  • Use an eye primer it makes your eye shadow last longer and prevents creasing in the lid. A liquid concealer can work also.

Makeup For Sensitive Skin

Hey Everybody!  Get Excited!  Get Excited!  I’m back with another informational beauty blog.  Did you know that water-proof products can strip skin of its protective oil and cause irritation?  Let’s talk makeup for sensitive skin…
Since fragrances can aggravate sensitive skin, look for products that are labeled "without perfume" or "fragrance-free." Do not buy products labeled as "unscented."   According to the American Academy of Dermatology, "unscented" products often contain fragrance to disguise the smell of the chemicals. Although makeup preservatives (such as formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol and paraben) can cause skin irritation, products containing water must have them to prevent bacteria growth. Compare product ingredient labels and choose products with less than 10 ingredients to avoid aggravating your skin with numerous preservatives.

Hypoallergenic or mineral-based products are better for sensitivity.  Look for mineral makeup that contains no synthetic perfumes, dyes or preservatives.   Beware of mineral makeup that contains nanoparticles and bismuth oxycholoride.  These can irritate and clog pores.

Sensitive Eyes…
The skin around your eye is very sensitive and may react differently from the rest of your facial skin to makeup. Therefore, applying a protective barrier in the form of makeup primer around your eye helps to soothe the skin and also makes your makeup appear smoother. This will keep the makeup from being placed directly on your skin and could stop irritation.
Look for lighter-colored, powdered eye shadow because it contains less irritating color pigments than brighter shadows. Avoid eye makeup containing shimmer or glitter. If you use eyeliner, choose a wax-based pencil liner rather than liquid eyeliner. Liquid liner contains latex, which can cause an allergic reaction on sensitive skin. When possible, choose black eyeliner or mascara which may be gentler on skin than other pigments. Discard eye makeup after three months to prevent bacteria accumulation that can further aggravate skin.

Sensitive Lips…
If your lips are sensitive, use a moisturizing lip balm and lipstick or gloss. Avoid long-lasting lip color. The American Academy of Dermatology states that ingredients in long-wearing lip products are more likely to cause an allergic reaction. Throw away lip products one year after purchasing to prevent contamination.

Pro Tip:  Always remove all makeup before you go to sleep. Makeup can build up over time if it is not washed off properly and eventually cause deposits in and around the eye area. This can cause continual irritation.

Bridal Beauty: Makeup for the African-American Bride

Great Day! If You Luv Makeup & Beauty readers. Sharing is caring so here’s the best colors for African-American skin tones and how to properly deal with common problems so you can be wedding-day gorgeous.

Finding Foundation
In general, foundation that has yellow undertones is the most flattering, but if you have very dark skin, a foundation with a slight blue cast works best. If you have medium-toned skin, choose a foundation with a red-yellow hue. And if you have light skin, look for a soft golden shade.

Pick Three
There may be variances in undertone on different parts of your face so it's a good idea to have three foundation shades -- light, medium, and dark -- on hand to allow for the different gradations of color. Many African-American women are darker across the brow and chin, and slightly lighter on the cheeks. Use the light foundation as your under-eye concealer and to lighten a dark forehead or chin area. Use the medium foundation as your all-over color to correct spots of varied pigmentation. Use the dark foundation to even out the lightest areas of your face. You can also experiment with a bronzing stick to bring down the lighter tones of your face.

Getting Cheeky
The key with blush is to avoid anything that looks ashy or pale on your skin. Lighter skin tones look pretty and most natural in dark bronzers, though apricot, rose, and soft pink also work well. Medium to dark skin tones look best with deep blush hues like dark rose, currant, and plum.

Makeup, then Kiss
In general, the darker your skin tone, the darker you can go with your lip color. Burgundy and blackberry are beautiful on dark skin. Women with medium skin tones look pretty in currant or red, and those with light skin look best in low-voltage neutrals and glosses. If your bottom lip is paler than your top lip, you can even them out by applying a sheer, dark lipstick to your lower lip as a base, then sweeping the same lipstick over both lips.

If you want to have very full lips that don't require too much enhancement, avoid bright, attention-getting colors and stick to quiet, flattering shades instead, like caramel and soft brown. Perfect for kissing the groom!

Until next time...

BEAUTY SAVER

Happy Holiday! Today we are going to save your beautiful face. Get EXCITED! You can’t create art without a clean canvas. It’s not enough to know how to apply makeup like a pro; you must also know how to remove it like one. And you absolutely must remove it before going to bed. (Late nights are no excuse.) You should already be accustomed to cleansing, toning, and moisturizing products, but don’t rely on your cleanser alone to take makeup off completely. Whether you wear very little makeup or go all out, your cleansing products should include a makeup remover. Start by finding a formula that suits your needs. Makeup must first be dissolved, so that it lifts off your skin easily. Leave the remover on your face while you brush your teeth or draw your bath. The skin around the eyes is extremely delicate, it’s so important here to use an eye makeup remover specifically for this area. Above all, remember to be gentle. If you tug and pull at your skin, you are asking for trouble later. Taking good care of your skin goes beyond any beauty benefits that makeup can deliver. Be good to your skin, and it will be good to you.

Until next time…Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Beauty Fixer

Hello Readers- I love sharing information about makeup and beauty. You won’t believe the feedback that's coming in. Here’s a few:

-I truly enjoyed reading your page. What a Blessing…

-Thank you for the wealth of information you have provided on this site...
-I hope all is well and I look forward to learn some make up tips ~ thanks for sharing, blessings…

Get Excited! Today’s topic is a must-have beauty fixer “Face Powder”. Powder provides staying power for your makeup-it won’t last the day without it. It helps absorb the skin’s natural oils to help control shine throughout the day. And it’s the finishing stop that helps your skin appear smooth and natural. You can even brush it on over a clean, moisturized face for a fresh, no-makeup look.

Most face powder is made from two bases: cornstarch and talcum. It basically comes in two forms, loose and pressed. Use a loose powder to set your makeup. It works best and lasts longest. Loose powders contain more oil absorbers than pressed, so it is the best choice for oily skin. Of course, it you travel, pressed powder is far more convenient to take along with you. Powder is an absolute must for oily skin. It absorbs extra oil from the skin and can be reapplied throughout the day. The finer a powder is milled, the higher the quality, so the less likely it is to cake on the skin. Finer-milled powders will feel more like velvet, whereas less-milled powders eel more gritty.

There are several ways to apply both types of powder:

  • A sponge works well for tight areas and is great for “spot” powdering.

  • A brush is the easiest and most commonly used tool. It is great for blending, but you must be careful not to over-blend and brush of what you apply. Or best results; apply a little bit of powder at a time with a brush, instead of applying it all at once, to ensure smooth, even coverage.

  • A powder puff offers the best coverage and is my favorite way to apply powder. Press a puff or sponge into the powder and then “roll” it onto the skin. Pushing it into the skin makes your foundation and powder appear as one with your skin and looks far more natural. To finish, lightly sweep the face with a brush using gentle downward strokes to remove any excess powder.

  • A fingertip works well for a light powder application. It’s a great way to powder underneath the eyes, especially for mature women. Just dip your finger in loose powder. Rub your finger in the palm of your hands to brush off the excess, then trace your finger over the area underneath the eyes set your concealer and minimize fine lines.

    Tips:
Yellow-based shades look healthier and more natural. To get that perfect shades of concealer, try mixing it with a little or your foundation.

Until next time…Have a wonderful day!

WATERPROOF BEAUTY FORMULA

Great Day! my wonderful readers. Summer is coming to a close in few weeks. Of course that's not good news. But, here's some food for the eyes lol... If you are susceptible to allergies that make your eyes water, you might not want to use a waterproof mascara because it's harder to remove and can damage delicate lashes. Women with sensitive eyes try to stay away from waterproof mascara because it is the most irritating of all formulas. I recommend MK Ultimate Mascara check it out TODAY!

Much luv, let's keep our makeup tight. Have an awesome day!

TIPS: eyeshadow

For a more intense color, try using both powder and crème shadows together. Remember that powder on top of crème will hinder blending, but you still always begin with the crème. It contradicts the rule of crème-on-crème, powder-on-powder but it works.

You can also use your powder shadow as a eyeliner. Simply apply it wet or dry using a brush.

Some powder shadows are harder-pressed and more powdery, while others have a slightly creamy texture.
